About Me & My Blog

Hello, I am Shweta, born and brought up in a lovely city , Belgaum-a place that lies in the zone of cultural transition between Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa.

I have a fascination for cooking...I learnt basic cooking seeing my mom and my grandmother. And later what ever I have learnt was my own interest and fascination and as time passed I realised that I have learnt varieties of cuisines. As soon as I started receiving accolades from near and dear ones, that’s when I realised how important cooking was in my life.

Post wedding, I moved to Hyderabad, and this is where I started learning Andhra cuisines. My hubby and my in laws loved my food. Then my hubby came up with an idea to start a blog and so with his, my in laws and my parents help here I am with my blog. The beginning of creating this blog was not so easy but over a period of time when my family and relatives gave me confidence to start, I began focusing seriously.

This blog covers varieties of dishes starting from soups to desserts. I am vegetarian and a maharashtrian so you may find lot of vegetarian and maharashtrian dishes. I am still a beginner in Non Veg. Cooking vegetarian dishes was quite simple for me but the real test came when I began cooking non vegetarian dishes (my hubby's favourite)..so in a way experimenting non veg dishes definitely has helped me and slowly i am trying to expertise on them(There is a saying vegetarians are great cooks when it comes to preparation of non-vegetarian dishes).

I thought of maintaining a repository of recipe's in the form of a blog which would help others in experimenting with the recipes which I have learnt over the years, with numerous interactions with friends, near and dear ones.

I believe the real taste of preparation of any recipes lies in its simplicity, ease of preparation and a blend of taste and so I have addressed my blog as " Shweta's Simple Recipes"

Please send me your inputs on how you enjoyed the dishes you made from my recipes. I would love to hear your sincere feedback and comments which would surely give me encouragement to perform even better.

Shweta signs off...happy cooking...

Just went thru few of your recipes, currently am in catering biz, and like to add some new items. Your blog is one of the best, pictures help u'standing, recipes are cool & simple, but most importantly, the ingredients are simplest of all, every indian kitchen has them all.

wish you all the best, will come back with feedback, once I am thru your version of tomato chutney and tomato omlette.

Hi Shweta, Last year, while on a road trip from Mumbai to Bangaluru, my family and I stayed overnight at Belgaum. I think the name of the hotel was Hotel Ramdev. The next morning we had breakfast in the dining area. The most memorable part of our stay there was the upma we had at this place. I usually don't like upma very much, but when my sister ordered it, I tasted a bit of hers and then ordered my own. It was the most delicious upma I have EVER tasted in my 50 years of life. I live in the US and am trying desperately to get the recipe so that I can cherish that taste till the end of my life. Could you please help me in my search? All I remember is that it was white-ish, and was pressed into a 'katori' and then released upside down onto the plate. Please try to help me find this recipe! I will be forever grateful to you.
Jackie

Hello Shweta:
I’m from the great city of Belgaum, presently residing in the States. I’m so happy to see Belgaum on the internet and especially our recipe blog.
My search for the mirchi powder that was mixed with baked onions and garam masala landed me to your blog. This mirchi I think is native to Belgaum and my mum would make it once a year and use it all year round. I have seen it but do not remember the recipe exactly nor the procedure. I’d appreciate if you can help out here.

Thanks and kind regards
